I sent the following message to Universal Studios to get there permission to use there film clip.

Dear Sir/Madam
I am currently making a short film for my A level in media. It is a social realism drama set in a dystopian world, about a young girls attempt to send her mum to the moon in a cardboard box to help her escape from the harsh realities that she is faced with on earth. An early scene in the film is of the girl looking at her mum watching TV. I would like the film she is watching to be ‘Apollo 13’. I feel that their are corresponding issues from ‘Apollo 13’ which link to the key themes and moments of my film. I also feel that the protagonist in my film has strong links to Tom Hanks character of Jim and feel that by using the film as an early comparison I will be able to build in great understanding of the characters struggles.
If it is possible for me to have the rights to the use a short clip of the film and the soundscape of the rocket taking off, it would be hugely appreciated, as I feel that it is the clip I need to make my film work as a whole.
